Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo known at its inception as Federal Advanced Teachers College for special education was established on 5th October, 1977.  The founding principal.  Mr. C.C. Azodor, was replaced soon after the opening by an Acting Principal Mr. G.O. Talabi, who administered the college from 1978-1980.  Later in 1980, Dr. O.I. Onwuegbu became the first Provost until 31st May, 1987.

Petroleum Training Institute (P.T.I.) in Effurun, Delta State was established in 1973 by the Federal Government of Nigeria as a prerequisite for the membership of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC),to train indigenous middle level manpower to meet the labour force demand of the Oil and Gas Industry in Nigeria and the West African subregion. It awards ND and HND certificates.

Kwara State College of Education, Oro is the first to be established by the Kwara State Government was established in 1976 as an advanced Teacher’s College with a temporary site at the then Federal Government College, Ilorin. It is an off-shoot of the school of Education of the then Kwara State College of Technology Ilorin established in 1974.

Kwara State College of Education (Technical) Lafiagi was established by the civilian Government of Kwara State through a bill passed into law by the Kwara State House of Assembly on the 13th day of September, 1993.

MOSHOOD ABIOLA POLYTECHNIC, ABEOKUTA (FORMERLY OGUN STATE POLYTECHNIC) commenced operation on two temporary campuses, namely: Oke-Egunya and Onikolobo. Movement of all departments from the temporary campuses to the permanent site at Ojere started in April 1985 and was completed in March, 1988.
