BARRING any unforeseen circumstance, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) might release the results of the 2011 Unified TertiaryMatriculation Examination (UTME) conducted last Saturday today.

A total of 1,493, 603 registered for the 2011 UTME, which took place simultaneously in 331 examination towns in Nigeria and in six foreign centres namely: Accra in Ghana, Buea in Republic of Cameroun, Cotonu in Republic of Benin, London in United Kingdom, Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and Johannesburg.

In 2009, the University Matriculation Examination was released after days, while the 2010 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination was released in six (6) days.

But the Nigerian Tribune gathered that the board had taken time this time to sort out the results properly in order to minimise the high incidence of withheld results. About 82,000 results were withheld in the last UTME as a result improper shedding and wrong filling of instructions by candidates to multiple cheating in examination halls in some centres.

First of all, for those still expecting their names in any 2010/2011 Admission list for any school that has not released their admission list for the session, please check the official Jamb website to check updated entries.

As you all already know, Jamb has already begun the registration of candidates seeking admission into Nigeria’s Higher Institutions in the 2011/2012 Academic session since November 2010. We, myschoolcomm, had earlier made a publication that the “air was not clear” for Jamb 2011/2012 registration back then due to certain controversies in the board. You will agree with me that WE WERE RIGHT!

Myschoolcomm has now been able to conclusively gather that JAMB will not be permitting admission into the Government owned South-East Universities that were on strike for over 6 months. These Universities are;

1. Evan Enwerem University (EEU) (Former Imo State Univeristy, IMSU).
2. Abia State University (ABSU)
3. Anambra State University (ANSU)
4. Ebonyi State University (EBSU)
5. Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT)

myschoolcomm, therefore advices prospective candidates NOT to register for admission into the above listed schools as they have been suspended by the JAMB board from participating in the 2011/2012 Admission Exercise. Though we don’t know if this decision by JAMB will be reversed but myschoolcomm suspects that the chances of a reversal for this decision are slim.

We will also like to use this opportunity to re-iterate that the Finger print mode of registration introduced by jamb this year still stands. The Board has therefore made it compulsory that every candidate registering for this year’s admission must have their finger prints scanned. We will therefore also advise that all prospective candidates should ensure that the business center or cybercafe in which they choose to register through has a Finger Print Scanner. This assures you of a successful registration.

It is also of importance to note that myschoolcomm has now confirmed the official Closing date for the 2011/2012 JAMB Regsitration, which is 6th May, 2011 and the Date for the examination has been slated for 11th June, 2011.
