The Federal Government has announced 180 as the cut-off mark for admission into the various categories of tertiary institutions in the country for all candidates who sat for the just concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on the April 17th, 2010.
Education Minister Prof Ruqqayatu Ahmed Rufai said this yesterday at the first combined policy committee meeting on admission to degree awarding institutions, National Diploma (ND), Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and National Innovation Diploma (NID) awarding institutions in Abuja.
She said vice chancellors, rectors and provosts of universities, polytechnics and colleges of education have agreed to further remove the discrepancy in university and other tertiary institutions’ certificates.
Prof Ruqqayatu said: “We have met with the vice chancellors, rectors and provosts, and discussed the issue of the cut-off mark for this year’s UTME and then we agreed on 180 as cut-off mark. Since it is a unified examination we agreed that it is uniformed for polytechnics, colleges of education as well as universities”.
She urged all the tertiary institutions to adhere strictly to 60:40 Science/Arts ratio for universities and colleges of education and 70:30 Technology/non-technology ratio for polytechnics and specialized Institutions.
She called on the tertiary institutions and JAMB to work within the limits of the admissions time-table set out and as presented and not to entertain any request outside the schedule.Chairman, Board of Trustees of JAMB Prof Samson Ukpabi, who disclosed that UTME which began on a strong footing on account of speedy release of results, was a product of the road map to education development by for education minister Dr. Sam Egwu.
Registrar and Chief Executive of the board Prof. Dibu Ojerinde said that any institution that fails to comply with the admissions guideline will be sanctioned and have its license seized by the government.

pls, i did change of course/institution and since then the changed has not reflet to my utme result. how am i going to know that the changed is done.because if it is happens that we will write the post ume exams i don’t know which school i write whether the former or the new one. thanks
