10,000 Jostle for INEC Jobs in Abia state, Nigeria
Umuahia — The high level of unemployment in Nigeria came to the fore on Tuesday when over 10000 applicants in Abia state desperately jostled for few vacancies in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Before 7.am, venue of the exercise, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu Township Stadium, Umuahia had been filled to the brim by the applicants who never wanted to take chances.

Gunmen kidnaps four expatriate workers in Rivers state
Nigerian gunmen on Friday kidnapped three Syrian expatriates and one Lebanese worker near the oil hub Port Harcourt, a police spokeswoman said.
The four expatriates are employed by an engineering company in Port Harcourt, the main oil city of Africa’s biggest energy producer.
“The hoodlums kidnapped the four … and fled while firing at the police,” said Rita Inoma Abbey, spokeswoman for Rivers State police, adding that the criminals were wearing military uniforms.
Jonathan sacks NNPC Boss, appoints Ladan Shehu
Mohammed Barkindo, group managing director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has been relieved of his post. A statement on Barkindo’s dismissal issued by the Presidency yesterday and endorsed by Ima Niboro, senior special adviser to Acting President Goodluck Jonathan, did not however give reasons for his sack. To replace Barkindo is Laden Shehu, a retired group executive director, commercial and investment, NNPC, whose appointment has been confirmed.

GSM operator, Zain Nigeria, may soon face another re-branding challenge in the wake of serious talks between its parent company, Kuwaiti Zain Group and French telecom firm, Vivendi, to buy the African operations of the Zain Group.
SFR is a 56 percent subsidiary of Vivendi, the second-largest telecommunications operator in France.
