Explosion Rocks Warri amnesty talks
WARRI—GOVERNORS, elders, leaders and stakeholders of the Niger-Delta, yesterday, angrily scolded the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger-Delta, MEND, for detonating two bombs some 200 metres away from the Government House Annex, Warri, Delta State, venue of a two-day post amnesty dialogue by Vanguard Newspapers.

Wife of businessman, ex-candidate kidnapped
LAGOS (AFP) – Nigerian kidnappers seized the wife of a prominent businessman and former candidate for governor in the southeastern Nigerian state of Imo as she left a church service, police said Monday.
“Mrs. Stella Odimegwu was abducted on Sunday by some 30 gunmen who overpowered her as she came out of a church service at Asa Ubirielem,” a senior police officer told AFP.
Bomb rock Nigerian amnesty ceremony
Two car bombs struck the Nigerian oil city of Warri this morning during talks on an amnesty for former rebel fighters.
At least four state governors were among several hundred senior officials gathered in the Delta State government house in the southern city when the bombs went off.
10 hurt in Nigerian plane accident
Lagos – Ten people were injured when a Nigerian Air Force plane overshot the runway at Port Harcourt airport, a senior official said on Saturday.
“The plane with 47 passengers and five crew was carrying out an emergency response exercise flight from Abuja when it skidded off the runaway and rammed into the bush yesterday (Friday),” the official of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria said.

Drogba named African Footballer of the Year
Didier Drogba has been crowned African Footballer of the Year for the second time in his career.
The Chelsea striker, who also won the award in 2006, was selected ahead of fellow Chelsea player Michael Essien of Ghana and Cameroon forward Samuel Eto’o.
Drogba won the award on his 32nd birthday, but he was not present to pick up the gong. Emmanuel Adebayor won the award last year.
