United States President Barack Obama may visit Nigeria soon.
A statement by the US State Department on Sunday, said that ahead of the expected visit, whose date was not given, the US Deputy Secretary of State, Mr. Jacob ‘Jack‘ Lew, would meet with President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership of the National Assembly this week.

U.S. Removes Nigeria From Terror List

Lagos — The United States government has removed Nigeria from the list of terrorist nations. The minister for foreign affairs Odein Ajumogobia made this known to newsmen after this Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja.
Ajumogobia said the delisting of Nigeria from the terror watch-list is as a result of the success of the recent visit of Acting President Goodluck Jonathan to Washington, where he had time to chat with U.S. President Barack Obama.

U.S. moves towards removing Nigeria from terrorist list

Pressure by Abuja to get Nigeria off America’s terrorist watch list seems to have paid off as Washington has promised to “revisit the issue.”
A senior White House official said President Barack Obama could de-list Nigeria as a “goodwill gesture’ to Acting President Goodluck Jonathan when he visits later this month.
Aides disclosed that Obama had discussions with Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, as well as with Justice Department and Homeland Security officials before taking the decision.

With names largely drawn from Nigeria and Yemen, the United States government is said to have nearly doubled the number of individuals who are now on the no-fly-list since the last Christmas Day terror attempt, by Nigerian terror suspect, Umar Abdulmutallab, Empowered Newswire reports.
