Asari Dokubo arrested by SSS at Seme border
A former president of the Ijaw Youths Council and former militant leader in the Niger Delta, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, has been arrested by security operatives at the Nigerian end of the Seme border with Republic of Benin.
Investigations revealed that Dokubo was coming into the country from Cotonou, when operatives of the State Security Service arrested him.
Gunmen kidnaps four expatriate workers in Rivers state
Nigerian gunmen on Friday kidnapped three Syrian expatriates and one Lebanese worker near the oil hub Port Harcourt, a police spokeswoman said.
The four expatriates are employed by an engineering company in Port Harcourt, the main oil city of Africa’s biggest energy producer.
“The hoodlums kidnapped the four … and fled while firing at the police,” said Rita Inoma Abbey, spokeswoman for Rivers State police, adding that the criminals were wearing military uniforms.

The Acting Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, has said that some “faceless influential persons” are behind the March 7 killings in three villages of Shen district in Jos South Local Government Area of the state.
Aduba, who briefed the press on the latest development in the state, said that confessional statements extracted from the suspects indicated that while some of them volunteered to take part in the massacre, others had influential sponsors.

JTF destroys 500 illegal refineries, arrests 6 suspected oil thieves
THE Joint Task Force (JTF) on the Niger-Delta have destroyed fresh 500 illegal crude oil refineries and arrested six suspected oil thieves at Egbekebor and Gbelekumor communities in Delta State.
Also, several pumping machines used by the bunkerers, drums of suspected crude and refined products were also seized.
Nigerian militants claim attack on Agip pipeline
LAGOS, Nigeria – Militants in the oil-rich Niger Delta announced Thursday they had attacked a major pipeline junction run by the Italian firm Agip, only days after claiming responsibility for another attack in the region.
A statement by the Joint Revolutionary Council claimed its fighters launched an assault early Wednesday morning on an Agip pipeline junction that connects several crude oil storage fields. However, Lt. Col. Timothy Antigha, a military spokesman for the region, dismissed the attack claims as “completely false.”

Take decisive actions now, Danjuma tells Jonathan
The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council, Lt.-Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd), on Thursday said Nigeria required change and therefore challenged Acting President, Goodluck Jonathan, to take ‘quick and aggressive’ actions in order to save the nation.
Danjuma spoke while responding to the Acting President‘s address at the inauguration of the newly constituted Presidential Advisory Council in the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.
