Breaking News: Nigerian leader Umaru Yar’Adua dead
Nigerian president Umaru Yar’Adua has died, his office confirmed late on Wednesday.
“It is true that the president is dead,” an official at the office said.
Presidential spokesman Olusegun Adeniyi said Yar’Adua had been ill for a long time and he had died at 9pm on Wednesday (0600 AEST, Thursday) at the Aso Rock presidential villa.

No plan to impeach Yar’Adua — Senate
The Senate on Wednesday said it was not contemplating any impeachment proceedings against President Umaru Yar‘Adua.
Responding to a question while briefing journalists after the plenary session of the Senate, the Vice-Chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Media, Senator Anthony Manzo, said there was no need for impeachment because the situation in the country was stable, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
