SPDC Joint Venture University Scholarship 2011
The Limited (Operator of the NNPC/SHELL /TEPN/AGIP Joint Venture) Scholarship Scheme offers first year students in all Nigerian universities the opportunity to study with an annual grant from the SPDC Joint Venture for the full duration of their course. The programme aims to promote academic excellence and improve skills among young Nigerians.
WHO CAN APPLY?
There are two categories within the scholarship – the (NM) and the Areas of Operation Merit Award, East or West (OE or OW).
1. National Merit Award (NM)
The National Merit Award (NM) University Scholarship is open to all Nigerian first year degree students in Nigerian universities who are NOT indigenes of SPDC’s operational areas (in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Imo, and Rivers States). Applications must be sent in writing using the application format below only and sent in an envelope clearly marked 2010/2011 NM Award.
2a. Areas of Operation Merit Award, East (OE)
The Areas of Operation Merit Award, East (OE) University Scholarship is open to first year degree students in Nigerian universities who are indigenes of SPDC’s operational areas in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Rivers and Bayelsa States (excluding indigenes of Ekeremor and Sagbama Local Government Areas). Applications must be sent in writing using the format below only and sent in an envelope clearly marked 2010/2011 OE Award.

The 2010/2011 Federal Government forms are now available for collection in all Federal and State Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Colleges of Education. Consequently, prospective candidates are advised to contact their institutions for collection and completion of the forms.

Please, note that application forms are also available online at www.fsb.gov.ng and can be filled and printed by prospective candidates for endorsement by their HOD and Registrars of their institutions

ELIGIBILITY:

(i) Undergraduate, HND & NCE Scholarship:

All applicants should be registered full-time students in their second year or above in recognized Federal and State Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Colleges of Education. They should also obtain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0 on a 5 point scale, or its equivalent in the previous academic year’s examinations.

(ii) Postgraduate scholarship:

Applicants must be registered full-time students of recognized Federal and State owned universities and must have a minimum of second class Honours (upper Division) in their 1st degrees.

All qualified candidates who have fully completed the prescribed application forms for the Nigerian Awards scholarship are to attend selection interviews as scheduled in paragraph 4 below.

GENERAL INFORMATION

(a) Duly completed application forms should be submitted at the various interview centres. Completed application forms should be accompanied with. Photocopies of:

(i) Letter of admission to the institution

(ii) Course Registration Form

(iii) Student Identity Card

(b) Two passport-size photographs with name fully written at the back

(c) Interview Dates:

Northern States: (North East, North West & North Central)14th-18th March, 2011

Southern States: (South East, South West, South South) 21st-25th March,2011

(d) Interview Venue: Federal Unity School in State Capitals; where there is no Unity School in the State Capital, candidates should contact The Secretary, Scholarship Board in that State.

All qualified candidates are advised to:

a. Register by creating a user name and password for login to this site.

A. POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: All applicants should hold a Masters Degree or First Degree with at least 2nd Class Upper. The applicants who are previous recipients of Foreign awards must have completed at least two years post qualification or employment practices in Nigeria. A knowledge of the Foreign language of the donor country is desired particularly for those applying for Russian Award. All applicants must have completed N.Y.S.C. Age limit is 35years.

B. UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of Five (5) As and Bs in the senior secoundary school certificate (WAEC or NECO) All candidates must have As and Bs in the subjects relevant to their field of studies including English Language and Mathematics. Knowledge of Foreign language will be an added advantage. The age of certificate should not be more than Three (3) years (2008 – 2011).

VENUE OF INTERVIEW: All eligible applicants are to report for the interview at the venues nearest to them (Click to view interview venues).

Two sets of completed application forms should be submitted at the various interview centres. With the folowing attachments;

1. Two authenticated photocopies of educational certificates (Original certificates should be presented at the interview venues for sighting)
2. Only one certificate will be accepted ie WAEC or NECO for May/June, June /July, Oct/ Nov or Nov/ Dec . No combination of scores from more than one examination result..
3. Statement of results must be authenticated by WAEC or NECO
4. Two copies of Birth certificate/ statutory declaration of age dully signed , stamped and dated.
5. Sate of origin certificate dully signed, stamped and dated.
6. Twelve passport sized colour photographs with white background
7. Medical certificate of fitness, HIV/AIDS, Anti Rabbis and Hipatitis B free certificates obtained from Teaching Hospital/National Hospital, Abuja.
