Nigeria have plumetted in the latest Fifa rankings released yesterday.

The Super Eagles, placed 38 in the last edition in August, fell five places to 43rd in the world.

Nigeria also fell two places in Africa, to sixth.

The team have experienced mixed fortunes recently, losing 1-3 to Argentina in an international friendly earlier in the month, but beating Madagascar 2-0 in an African Nations Cup qualifier.

Cote d’Ivoire are down one place to 16th overall, but remain first in Africa.

After just one month at the top, the Netherlands have relinquished first place to Spain.

Germany (3rd, unchanged) now sit directly above Uruguay (4th, up 1), who occupy their highest-ever position on the global ladder. Other movers towards the summit were Portugal (5th, up 3), Italy (6th, up 1) and Brazil (7th, down 1), while England round up the top eight having lost four places.
