Roland Martin in trouble over ‘anti-gay’ tweets over David Beckham’s underwear advert
CNN has suspended their political analyst for ‘anti-gay’ tweets he wrote about David Beckham’s underwear advert during the Super Bowl.
Roland Martin tweets were branded ‘offensive’ by critics after he commented on the Bodywear advert that played during the Super Bowl last weekend.
He tweeted: “If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him.”
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation said the remark advocated violence against gays.
“Roland Martin’s tweets were regrettable and offensive, language that demeans is inconsistent with the values and culture of our organization, and is not tolerated.
We have been giving careful consideration to this matter, and Roland will not be appearing on our air for the time being.”
