We have created a multi-media platform with intentions to expand operations throughout Africa. The company takes advantage of multiple synergies to form a corporate group of significant value. Silverbird Group is a wholly Nigerian owned company established in 1980, to provide contemporary family entertainment. It was started by a dynamic and visionary entrepreneur – Ben Murray-Bruce. Silverbird revolutionized FM Radio in Nigeria in 1997 when it set up Silverbird’s Rhythm 93.7 FM, Lagos.
In 2002 and 2003, radio stations were established in Abuja and Port Harcourt respectively. Silverbird’s Rhythm 93.7 FM and STV commenced transmission in Benin and Jos in 2008. Awka and Yenagoa are due to commence operations in 2009.
Silverbird Television commenced transmission in Lagos in 2003, and was voted the most entertaining TV station in 2005. In 2004, Silverbird opened an international Shopping Mall in Lagos, which also has the first 5- screens Cineplex in sub-Saharan Africa. There is also a Silverbird 6 – screen cinema in Accra Mall, Ghana, and another 4- screen cinema in Nairobi, Kenya.
Over the last twenty-eight years, Silverbird has grown to become one of the most respected companies on the African continent. Through a policy of reinvestment and its commitment to growth, the company continues to accurately identify and respond to the ever-changing needs of customers and clients.
